START PROCEDURE
There will be two countdown clocks: one near the check off line set 3 minutes in advance, and the other at the Start line showing the real time. You should present yourself at the check off line when the clock shows your actual start time.
Don’t forget to Clear and Check your SI stick before entering the Start area!
There will be a three-line Start:
1. You will be called up to the first line to be checked off and may then cross it, but go no farther;
2. At the next whistle or beep, move to the next line and collect control descriptions. Do not proceed until the next signal;
3. On the next whistle/beep move up to collect your map, and write your initials, bib number or other identifier on the back of the map. You may not look at the map, but you may ask staff to verify that you have the correct map for your course;
4. On the next signal, move forward to the SI Start box and insert your SI stick to start the clock. At that point you may turn your map over and head out on your course;
5. In accordance with OUSA rules, young racers on the White and Yellow courses will have one minute to look at their maps before punching the start box;
6. Warmup clothing may be left in the Start area and will be returned to the arena on Saturday only.
LIVELOX
Livelox will be activated at 4 pm each day for that day’s courses.
ACCOMMODATIONS and ENTERTAINMENT
The Hampton Inn in East Greenbush, NY is the Event Center hotel. They are holding 40 rooms for us (20 king beds and 20 two queens) until August 27th for the reduced price of $159 per night before taxes. We strongly urge folks who think they might be attending to book a room early. Cancellations are possible up to 48 hours in advance without incurring a late fee. If the rooms start to book up early, they might be willing to put another 10 rooms aside for us at the reduced rate. The hotel is relatively new, very clean, with a hot breakfast buffet starting at 6 AM and a lovely pool.
Reservations can be made here.
Contact Sue Hawkes-Teeter for further information.
Rustic camping facilities, featuring cold water and outhouse facilities, will be available at the Rotary Scout Reservation for the price of $5 per night. This option should be selected when registering on EventReg. See the diagram below for camping location at Rotary. The woods or the tent platforms (represented by the small open black squares may be used.
