IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTE TO START!
All courses except for White involve an uncontrolled road crossing between Crandall Park and Cole’s Woods that you will make twice (once in either direction). You DO NOT have right-of-way, please yield to traffic and ensure that you cross safely.
Registration and Payment:
Pre-register at the following link or email Josh (yeaton.josh@gmail.com) and Phil (Philht@gmail.com) with your stick number and class.
EMPO members: map is free ($1 compass rental, $2 SI stick rental)
Non-members: either pay ahead (or after) at PayPal.Me (Paypal: @EmpireOC).
$10 map fee (additional maps $5), $1 compass rental, $2 SI stick rental.
We will collect car keys or phones as collateral for compass/SI stick rentals.
Parking and Start/Finish Details:
Starts are from 11AM-1PM with courses closing at 2:30PM
Start/Finish will be just south of the large parking lot at Crandall Park 43.320761165337125, -73.66070157260276.
Registration will be next to the start/finish area, or in the back of my car in the parking lot if it is raining.
There are often soccer games on the weekends, so if there isn’t room in the large lot use one of the smaller lots throughout the park.
There are flush toilets and running water, but be aware that I have seen the building they are inside be locked unpredictably.
Water and snacks will be available at the start/finish/registration area

Please note the safety warning about road crossings at the top of this document.
The map still uses the brown X’s for rootstocks, while there may be some new rootstocks or missing older ones, any rootstocks used for controls will be large and obvious both in the terrain and on the map. The disk golf ‘holes’ on the disc golf course have not been added to the map, so be aware of that (as well as the potential for disk golf players) in the woods just west of the start area. The only other major thing to be aware of is that there are new lightpoles on some of the loops (for lighted XC skiing) that have not yet been added to the map.
While there is a decent amount of green vegetation on the map, with fall in full swing expect forest runnability to be good in most places, even those that are light green. You should be able to get a feel for vegetation density pretty easily by looking into the forest from the trails; I expect there to be quite a few route choices between staying on-trail vs heading into the forest.
